MORECAMBE band The Heartbreaks are winning a music magazine poll to find the best album of 2012 so far.

The indie four-piece’s debut Funtimes is currently beating higher profile acts including Lana Del Rey and The Cribs in The Fly magazine poll.

The Fly is one of the UK’s leading free music magazines, which in the past has given the likes of Coldplay, Muse and Razorlight their first front cover features.

The full short list of albums, voted for by The Fly readers, are The Maccabees – Given To The Wild, The Cribs - In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull, Grimes - Visions, The Heartbreaks - Funtimes, Lana Del Rey - Born To Die, Mystery Jets - Radlands, Beach House - Bloom, Best Coast - The Only Place, Tribes - Baby and alt-J - An Awesome Wave.

The lads (Matthew Whitehouse, Joseph Kondras, Ryan Wallace and Chris ‘Deaks’ Deakin) are set to make their Japan debut at the Fuji Rock Festival alongside The Stone Roses at the end of July.

The band has also announced their next single Polly will be released on September 3.
