Schoolboy learns football skills at event in Lancaster

Football fans and their families came down to a free football event at Marketgate Shopping Centre.

Jamie Knight, ranked second in the UK and within the top 16 worldwide for football freestyling, had crowds of shoppers stunned by his captivating performances.

Sam Bennet, the winner of Marketgate’s Father’s Day competition, enjoyed his prize of an exclusive private workshop with Jamie.

The 13 year old football fan built upon his current skills with one-to-one tutoring from Jamie.

Sam’s mum, Michelle Bennet said: “Sam loved it so much, it was an amazing experience for him.”

Following on from the private session, Jamie continued showcasing his award-winning performances and invited other shoppers to join in workshops where they learnt freestyling skills including a variety of impressive keepy-uppy tricks.

Throughout the day, each workshop was full with of shoppers of all ages eager to learn new skills. For the final workshop, six lucky children also got to take home a football signed by Jamie himself to practise the tricks they learnt at the event.

Mike Taylor, Interim Centre Manager of Marketgate Shopping Centre, commented “We were thrilled to see so many shoppers enjoying the performances from Jamie. We hoped everyone enjoyed the fantastic workshops, there were certainly some impressive skills shown from our shoppers during the day!”
