Amy-Jo Clough has never given up on her dream of becoming a pop star – and now she’s supporting Rick Astley!
The rising teenage singer from Bolton-le-Sands will appear at Preston Guild Hall this Saturday alongside the 1980s icon, famed for his 1987 number one hit ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’.
Amy-Jo is no stranger to the Preston Guild Hall stage, for the former Carnforth High School pupil wowed a 2,500 strong audience to win the title Search for a Star 2010 when she was just 13.
Since then the 18-year-old has been the support act for Alexander O’Neal and Heaven 17 and sung alongside superstars Pixie Lott, Union J, George Ezra and Little Mix at Blackpool Illuminations. She is also a regular at local events including Morecambe Carnival and the Lancaster Christmas Lights switch-on.
Amy-Jo, who released her EP Innocence in summer 2014, came third in Lancaster and Morecambe Newspapers Talent On Show contest in 2008.
Then, in the same week, she sang alongside Robbie Williams tribute act JK at the Grand Theatre, and supported Coronation Street star Kevin Kennedy and Blue’s Antony Costa in their reality TV show spoof ‘The Extra Factor’ at the Lancaster venue. At the time, she was only 11 years old.
Amy-Jo also works as a choreographer for pantomimes at the Lancaster Grand Theatre and takes on roles such as Sandy in Grease and Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors.
Tickets to see Rick Astley, who will also be supported by 80s band China Crisis, are available from 01772 804444 or http://prestonguildhall.co.uk/ .
