A fishing boat was saved from being swept out to sea by a volunteer RNLI crew.

The boat’s engine had failed and it was drifting 500 yards west of the stone jetty In Morecambe at 7.40pm last Thursday.

But the Morecambe lifeboat crew rescued the boat and its owner by towing it back to shore.

RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, Kevin Jackson, said: “The casualty was not in immediate danger but without power, and therefore control of the boat, returning it to the slipway was the only way to ensure the safety of the boat and those on board.”
