A warm welcome awaits at the refurbished NAAFI Cafe in Lancaster. Although it has a brand new look it is part of a proud history – NAAFI cafes have been serving the services since 1920 and now they’re hitting our high streets ready to serve the public.

The Royal NAAFI has been supporting British Armed Forces communities around the globe since 1920 – but is now opening its doors beyond the Forces with brand new coffee shops open to all.

Having operated outside the UK for the past few years, they are excited to re-establish their name and welcome in the community of Lancaster.

Since acquiring the site on Market Street back in May, the cafe has been patiently awaiting a refit to bring it in line with the NAAFI’s other brand new locations in the UK. But now the work is complete and it is up and running serving a fantastic range refreshments at reasonable prices.

The refit has included new decor, seating and tasty additions to the menu – and they offer 10% discount for anyone in the military community - including those currently serving, veterans, Defence Discount and Blue Light card holders. From hearty breakfast baps to sandwiches, pastries and sweet treats, there is plenty to satisfy every appetite and a choice of comfortable indoor or outdoor seating.

Enjoy a full range of teas and coffees, cold drinks and smoothies. Bacon and sausage baps are available for just £3.50, or if you add a hot drink then pay £5 for both.

Freshly made soups are on sale, along with filled jacket potatoes, quiches and salads, sandwiches, rolls, toasties and panini. There are also savoury pastries such as sausage rolls, steak slices, plus vegan and vegetarian option. Then don’t miss the tray bakes and cakes to finish your meal!

NAAFI is keeping the prices reasonable, with cakes from £2, pasties at £2 - £3.50 and sandwiches from £3.25.

NAAFI returns all trading surpluses back into supporting Armed Forces communities, either as direct contributions or by investment into the facilities they operate.

In addition, the NAAFI Fund is committed to providing a minimum of £7.5m back to Armed Forces Units to invest in their own welfare projects over the course a decade. To date, grants worth almost three million have been awarded by the Fund for projects such as welfare rooms, children’s facilities and outdoor activity equipment.
