Eat all the pies and drink beer for Lancaster pub festival

The White Cross in Lancaster is holding a charity pie eating contest this Saturday, April 28 as part of the 13th Beer and Pie Festival with its two sister pubs, Merchants 1688 and the Stonewell Tap.

Contestants have to finish three pork pies and a pint of beer as fast as they can.

The pies are being donated by The Cornish Bakery and Cafe on Penny St, the beer by the pub and the winner walking away with a gallon of ale.

It is £10 to enter with all the entry money going to Cancer Research UK the competition and prize beer being provided free by the pub.

In addition 50p of every pint of Tirril Ulswater Blonde sold over the weekend will also go tocharity. Contestants should book their spot at the White Cross bar. Or if you just want to see the competition, make sure you turn up for the 1 o’clock whistle.
