A special screening of a classic movie musical for older people comes to The Dukes on February 9.

A newly restored print of Guys And Dolls (PG) is the film chosen to kick off the 2015 series of the ‘Journey Cafe’ arts events at the Lancaster venue.

Starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra, this 1955 classic tells the story of veteran gambler Sky Masterson who takes a bet from Nathan Detroit that he can win the affection of a Salvation Army ‘soldier’, setting himself up to lose both his money and his heart.

Guys And Dolls features such well known songs as ‘Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat’ and ‘Luck Be A Lady’.

Journey Cafe events offer older people and their families increased access to the arts.

They are presented in association with Age UK Lancashire for people with memory problems and their families.

This pioneering scheme has attracted national publicity and featured on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.

Before the film begins, free tea and coffee, and pastries are available in The Dukes foyer for all ticket holders which provides the chance for a social get-together.

Tickets for Guys And Dolls cost £4 including tea and coffee, and a pastry. An accompanying carer or family member goes free.
