AN author will celebrate the special relationship between Morecambe and Bradford this month.

After a huge response for his last visit to the store, Derek AJ Lister will sign copies of the highly popular 'Bradford's Own' at Morrisons on Central Drive on Friday, August 11 and Saturday, August 12.

'Bradford's Own' offers a fascinating insight into the achievements of famous Bradfordians who have excelled in the worlds of art, entertainment, literature, music and sport, including the world famous Bronte sisters, artist David Hockney, actress Mollie Sugden and Sir Ken Morrison, chairman of Morrisons itself.

Retired

And of course, Morecambe is known as 'Bradford by the Sea' because of the number of Bradford businessmen who lived in the Morecambe area and travelled to work in Bradford by train every day, and the many people from Bradford who retired to the Lancashire resort.

Derek AJ Lister said: "I thoroughly enjoyed my last visit to the Morrisons store and it was encouraging to meet so many people who, like me, are fascinated by the unique relationship between Morecambe and Bradford.

"Many people who live in this area still have a strong link to Bradford and through this book they can learn more about what it means to be a Bradfordian."

Ray Bowden, store general manager at Morrisons, said: "We are delighted to welcome Derek back to the store.

"On his last visit he proved to be very popular with our customers and this will undoubtedly be another successful book signing session."

'Bradford's Own' is published by Sutton Publishing and is available at Morrisons Morecambe for 9.99.
