Blues festival heads up summer of Morecambe music

Fans of blues music have a treat in store this weekend.

The annual BluesWater festival kicks off with a blues DJ session in the Rotunda Bar at the Midland Hotel this Friday from 8pm. Admission free.

On Sunday, from noon to 5pm, Courtland Bresner and Richard Law, The Hustle, The Section and The Kyla Brox Band will appear at the Platform. Admission free.

Organisers Kalimba have a packed programme for the rest of the summer.

They are also putting on an 80s night at the Rotunda on Saturday from 8pm until late. Free admission.

Soul AM returns to the Midland on Friday, June 26. Free admission, 8pm til late.

Hollywood Swinging is at D2 at Lancaster with uptown R ‘n’ B anthems on Friday, June 26.

Their next gig at the Golden Ball, Snatchems is on Friday, July 3, when the Morecambe Jazz Festival is launched with The Billionaires.

Morecambe Jazz continues on Saturday, July 4 at the Midland, from noon to 5pm, with the Bill Roberts trio and DJ Steve Middlesbrough.

Then on Sunday, July 5 the event moves to the Platform with Quay Change, Dani Gallagher, the John Woodhouse Quartet, and Lancaster Grammar School Big Band.

Then comes the Morecambe Live Weekender on August 28-30.
