Arts and heritage programme Facing the Past is calling on community groups from around Lancaster and Morecambe to get involved in an exciting opportunity to be part of a mass performance event.

The event, which will take place in Lancaster city centre on May 29 2023, will be created and developed by the groups’ response to the city’s links to transatlantic slavery, based on heritage research.

This is a great chance to work with professional voice and movement practitioners.

Facing the Past is an arts and heritage programme, supported by the National Heritage Lottery Fund, to reveal, reflect, and redress omissions in the way the city of Lancaster has commemorated its role as the fourth largest transatlantic slave port in the UK.
