Shrimps’ shirt sales support Lancaster hospice

Signed shirts from Morecambe Football Club’s FA Cup campaign have been auctioned off to raise money for St John’s Hospice, who appeared as the main shirt sponsors thanks to a generous deal with stadium sponsors, Mazuma.

The shirts went on sale after Morecambe’s third round exit at Stamford Bridge, where they played Premier League side Chelsea.

A huge £4,495 was raised for the hospice from the sale of the shirts, with winning bidders in the local area, Yorkshire, Lincoln and even Hong Kong!

Commercial Manager for Morecambe FC, Martin Thomas, said: “It’s great to hear that the auction has raised some much-needed funds for the hospice.

"The hospice provides the area with a vital facility that has assisted many people in their time of need. Not only have the shirts raised a great amount they have also given the Hospice some great exposure on a national level raising awareness of the great job they do for our community.

"I would also like to thank our stadium sponsor Mazuma for generously donating the shirt sponsorship to the hospice.”
