CancerCare, which provides free professional support and therapy and has centres in Lancaster, Kendal and Barrow, is hosting the first ever virtual meeting of its Phoenix Facebook Support Group on Friday November 20.

The group provides a secure online forum for people affected by any type of cancer to ask questions and express their thoughts and emotions with others going through similar experiences.

The charity has decided to hold virtual “coffee morning” via Zoom to encourage more people to join the group and benefit from the support it provides, during lockdown.

Phoenix is a closed group which includes CancerCare staff such as Sarah Drake (pictured), who also has lived experience of cancer.

Sarah said: “Phoenix is a support group available in the comfort of your own home. Members give each other advice and a friendly, supportive ear when necessary. We are excited about our first ever virtual meeting and I would encourage anyone who might benefit to get in touch. There will be no pressure to contribute, but participants are welcome to share stories, tips and advice.”

The virtual coffee morning takes place on Friday November 20 from 10am until noon. For more details, email [email protected].
