Counsellor pals plan skydive to help Lancaster cancer charity
CancerCare counsellor John Warrington and his pal Danny Cottrell will be doing a skydive at Flookburgh near Grange-over-Sands next month and are using the hair-raising feat to both demystify counselling as a talking therapy and reduce the stigma of mental health – particularly among men.
Heysham-based John was in the Royal Navy before re-training as a counsellor so is used to thrilling exploits including counter terrorist operations, while former drummer Danny has performed with artists as diverse as the Moscow State Circus and Robbie Williams!

John said: “It's going to be a privilege to raise money for CancerCare and by putting ourselves in this situation we will be feeling like many of our clients do when they first come for counselling; feeling anxious and worrying about what it will be like.“
They are hoping to raise £250 for CancerCare, which provides free professional therapy for anyone affected by cancer or loss, and the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) a charity which raises awareness about men's mental health and aims to reduce male suicides.
