Round-up of Lancashire's weekend lockdown fines with raids on hot tub parties and weddings

In total, between 6am on Friday (February 12) and 6am on Monday (February 15), the force received 362 Covid reports and issued 124 tickets.

This is compared to 461 Covid reports and 277 tickets issued last weekend.

Some of the weekend's most outrageous incidents

Following a report from a member of the public that up to 30 guests would be attending a wedding celebration in Blackburn on Saturday, officers attended a home on Dukes Brow, Blackburn.

There they found nine people inside celebrating the wedding, including two residents of the home.

Each individual was issued with a £200 fixed penalty notice and ordered to go home.

Officers also attended a student house party at Leighton Halls in Preston, in the early hours of Saturday morning. Twenty-six £800 tickets were issued to those in attendance.

Around 1.40am on Saturday, police received reports of loud music at a home in Church Street, Lancaster. Officers attended and found a number of people hiding under beds and in cupboards with six tickets issued.

Finally on Sunday (February 14), the force was called at around 3.40am to a home in Marlborough Drive, Walton-le-Dale, were officers were shocked to discover a hot tub party in full flow. Three people were fined £200.

Ch Supt Russ Procter, of Lancashire Police, said: "While it is pleasing to see a significant drop in Covid-related logs, we remain in the middle of a pandemic and it is crucial we stick to the rules and regulations and play our part.

“We have always taken a proportionate approach to breaches of the regulations – educating, explaining and engaging first, with enforcement as a last resort – but when people blatantly break the rules we will not hesitate to take a firmer approach.

“Disappointingly some of the incidents this weekend, including student parties, wedding parties and hot tub parties continue to test our resolve and take us away from spending time dealing with crime and keeping people safe.

“I must thank the many people across Lancashire, who continue to abide by the rules. You’re all playing your part.”
