Ryelands Primary and Nursery School in Torrisholme Road has asked parents to collect children as soon as possible.

Headteacher Linda Pye said it had not been an easy decision to take, but that following the closure of the nursery and reception last week due to a staff member testing posaitive, there have now been positive cases among children in Years 4 and 5, as well as a supply teacher.

She said: "I do not wish to cause any alarm but I feel this is the safest course of action. You will be aware that school has been closed to nursery and reception since last week due to a positive case of a staff member and this morning we have sent home Year 4 children due to a positive case.

"Since then I have been made aware of another positive case in Year 5 and a member of supply staff who has worked across a number of year groups."

Parents are to be given a letter specifically relating to their child with details about any requirements to self isolate.
