600 of these are self-isolating on campus - with a further 400 being international students having to quarantine due to where they have travelled from.

"There are also approximately 400 overseas students who are coming towards the end of quarantine restrictions to self-isolate."

The university's figures are from cases that have been reported to them.

Due to the time it takes to gather and confirm any new positive test results received over a weekend, they may not appear in initial updates provided at the start of the week.

Lancaster University has approximately 3,500 staff members and typically welcomes around 15,000 new and continuing students.
