The competition was to design a cycle safety poster following a presentation by PCSO Pete Atkinson on cycle safety and wearing cycle helmets.

PCSO Peter Atkinson said: “I went to 12 local schools talking to children about wearing cycle helmets to stay safe while out on their bikes. I then ran a competition to design a cycle safety poster at each school with five winners from each school getting a free cycle helmet. Two overall winners designs have then been made into signs to go outside the winning schools.”

Police ran the competition with help from Lancashire Road Safety Partnership.

The winning entry by Ellen Carson-Brown has been made into a street sign to be displayed outside her school.

This is aimed at encouraging children to wear their cycle helmets.
