As an alternative to a Christmas play this year, which could not be performed due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, staff and children at Cawthorne's Endowed Primary School in Abbeystead instead decided to perform a '12 Days of Cawthorne's'.

Every day for the 12 days leading up to the end of term, the school released a short video on their Facebook page, so that families could still feel involved in things in school despite the strange times.

Pam Hanigan from the school said: "We have had a lot of fun doing these, whilst trying to make sure we're covering everything we need to do academically, and whilst the results are certainly not Hollywood quality, they were made with a lot of love and the children had a blast creating them!"

The footage includes a speedy infant nativity, the juniors reciting 'Talking Turkeys' by Benjamin Zephaniah, Silent Night by candlelight in German and a host of other shorts.
