School head Nicola Gomersall sent a letter to parents today, Sunday March 22, saying that on Friday, the parent of a child had been told asked to self-isolate with her family after testing positive for Covid-19.

The school has now followed guidelines from Public Health England and asked all children in the class - and their siblings - to self-isolate for seven days, and a further seven days if any symptoms are displayed. Staff have been told to do the same.

They said the school will remain open from tomorrow for those children of key workers who need access to it, although not for Year 3 children or their siblings, as per guidance from Public Health England.

A statement from the school on Facebook also said: "Following guidance from PHE we have this morning sent out a letter to all of our school parents and staff in light of current developments.

"This states that one particular class are advised to self isolate for 7 days as they in the eyes of PHE have been in close contact with the child from this particular family.

"These families have been sent a separate letter. If your child has not shown any symptoms by now they are extremely unlikely to have caught it.

"This said we are having to follow the guidance. One question that may be on your lips is why not the whole school?

"The answer is that the guidance is only those in the child's class - I did ask the question x If you are all concerned then please get in touch via email. We are here to help.

"Please let us remember the family in question and keep them in our thoughts and prayers at this time. Keep safe everyone."
