At Caton Primary School, you will find a warm, welcoming atmosphere where pupils learn with laughter and are inspired to achieve highly through an exciting curriculum.

Teachers have high ambitions for every child, enabling them each to discover their unique talents and to shine – academically, on the sports field, on the stage and in the school and wider community.

While, like in all schools, Covid restrictions are limiting activities at the moment, in normal times the school’s range of educational visits is second to none and includes theatre and museum trips, residential visits in the Lake District and London and it culminates in a trip to France in Year 6 when pupils practise their French language skills. It’s an action-packed week including a visit to a French primary school, a day trip to Bruges, shopping at a French market and taking part in the Last Post ceremony at Ypres where the children lay a wreath.

Headteacher Gail Bowskill said: “Our school is one big family with a strong sense of teamwork and a belief that anything is possible. The staff team is incredible and makes sure that every child feels that they are valued and loved”.

Growing minds and bodies

The school’s broad and creative curriculum enables its pupils to grow in confidence. As a small school, Caton Primary is able to provide every child with the chance to perform on the stage annually, to represent the school at sporting events and to assume positions of responsibility in school. Every child is noticed, nurtured and encouraged to be the best that they can be.

The school is set in stunning grounds in the heart of Caton village. Its facilities are superb with a large, detached sports hall, field, trim trail, vegetable garden and even its own forest. The teachers make the most of the school’s wonderful environment, taking learning outside often. Muddy wellies are a given!

The school has a very strong sense of community with a thriving PTA that organises regular family events. Reception parents are invited into school for a weekly storytime session and all families are welcome to join in with the weekly celebration assembly.

Community based

The school also enjoys taking part in the Caton Gala and other local initiatives whenever it can and it welcomes the wider community into the school at key times such as for a community lunch at Christmas.

Breakfast and after school clubs are available as well as a wide variety of enrichment clubs.

Easily accessed from outside of the village, Caton Primary School is just five minutes from Halton and ten minutes from Lancaster city centre. Children travel to the school from as far as Heysham and Carnforth to enjoy all that the school has to offer.

Places are available in many year groups, but the deadline is looming for applications for Reception starters in September 2021. To make an appointment to view the school, contact the Headteacher on 01524 770104.
