Lancaster city centre was full of life yesterday after numerous people visited non-essential shops, pubs and cafes after several months of waiting.

But The Borough posted on its social media today, Tuesday, that it was learning lessons from the initial day back up and running.

And they said they have now made the decision to only take bookings where deposits are paid, after many people failed to turn up for pre-booked tables.

The Dalton Square pub - which has opened up its rear beer garden for customers - said: "Thanks to everyone who visited us yesterday, we learnt a few lessons and would like to ask for your help.

"It is much colder than we had hoped and whilst we have covers and heaters we still have to have 50 per cent of our area open and it is cold again today.

"Please appreciate this and wrap up warm. We have done everything we can but we cannot change the weather.

"It was very sad after so many months of being closed to have so many tables that didn’t show. We understand that plans change but just let us know. We will not be taking any more bookings unless deposits are paid.

"Bear with us. We are not yet back at being our best as we have not worked together as a team with real customers this year. We are trying our best."
