Lancaster care home rated 'good' by Care Quality Commission

The care home, in Westbourne Road, was praised for a "responsive, safe, effective, caring and well-led service."

The CQC inspected the home on February 7 and 13 and rated the home, run by Barchester Healthcare, as “Good” overall.

The report stated that: “People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests.”

The report went on to say “The service had an extensive programme of resident led activities. All the people who lived at the service told us they were happy with the activities and they enjoyed them.

Also highlighted in the report was “People told us they felt safe living at Laurel Bank.

"One person told us, “I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t feel safe, I’m too safe if anything.”

"The service was clean and tidy throughout and staff followed good infection prevention practices.”

In celebration of the rating and to thank each member of the team for their contributions to the home, each team member was presented with £100 gift voucher in appreciation of their hard work
