Mateo set up a business selling PPE last year and has been donating the profits to two local causes dear to him - Beaumont College and St John’s Hospice. This recent donation of sanitiser dispensers is a very welcome form of support for St John’s charity shops.

In addition to the dispensers, Mateo also donated 50ml bottles of hand sanitiser which will be available to buy at the tills of each St John’s Hospice shop.

Mateo’s mum, Sharon Sanderson, who has been helping him run his business, said: “I am so proud that Mateo has been supporting St John’s Hospice. Now that he’s left Beaumont College I can see that he will want to spend more time fundraising for the Hospice”.

Head of Retail at St John’s Hospice, Sophie Lea, said: “We are so grateful to Mateo for his generous donations! Keeping our shoppers safe on re-opening is our biggest priority, and combined with testing our staff and volunteers regularly and maintaining social distancing, we’re confident that people can shop safely with us.

"The dispensers remind people and make it easy for them to sanitise their hands when coming in or leaving our shops, and that’s so important to the safety of the community. Mateo is such an amazing supporter of St John’s, and we’re so happy he’s still thinking of us in the midst of his own hard work!”
