Morecambe BIS has asked motorists to be mindful of the diversions and plan trips accordingly when driving into Morecambe.

All the shops and businesses - those able to open on the April 12 under Covid restrictions - will be open as normal, and the majority of car parks will be open as usual.

The producers have requested that, due to current Covid restrictions on gatherings, spectating be kept to a minimum.

Local business bosses have urged people to 'shop local' now some Covid restrictions have been lifted.

A BID spokesman said: "The diversions will give you a chance to discover some great independent businesses you may not have visited before, especially down Queen and Pedder Streets.

"It's important we support the local economy as it emerges from restrictions so, whilst these enclosures are not ideal, the exposure brought to the area by series such as The Bay are invaluable in bringing visitors into the area.

"Research has shown that place-based TV dramas can increase the local visitor economy by up to 60 per cent in the medium term."
