THE Dukes theatre in Lancaster has taken work experience to a new level – with award winning success.

At a time of year when many teenagers are setting out on a fortnight week placement, Shona Thompson from Morecambe is eight months into a training programme at DT3, The Dukes’ youth theatre venue.

And it’s proved such a success that 16-year-old Shona has just won a Young Citizen Award, a scheme created by Lancashire County Council and the Lancashire Evening Post to honour young people’s unsung achievements in their community.

Creative learning director, Guy Christiansen said: “As Shona is still only 16, we are immensely proud of her achievements.

“She is a phenomenal member of the team and a very bright, motivated and focused person.”
