This is Megan Stanford - a talented teenager who is making waves in music.
Megan, 14, has reached the regional finals of TeenStar UK, a national competition to discover the next singing sensation, which last year was won by The X Factor finalist Luke Friend.
Self-taught acoustic guitarist Megan, who goes to Carnforth High School, is blossoming into one to watch on the local music scene.
“There’s all sorts of things happening for Megan and I’m delighted for her,” said her proud mum Anna Branson.
“Carnforth High School has been great. Her music teacher Pam Newman has been very encouraging.
“Megan likes to take pop music songs and make them acoustic, and give them a cool edge.
“Once she gets going there will be no stopping her.”
The regional TeenStar UK finals will be held in Liverpool on March 9, with £20,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.
Megan has already performed at both the Lancaster and Barrow Christmas lights switch-on events, Lancashire’s Celebrate Youth Awards and at the charity night for Unique Kidz & Co at the Grand Theatre in Lancaster, held in January.
She will perform at Kidfest in Barrow in August and is recording a track and video with the OntSofa music channel.
Megan also sang on a charity record ‘I’ll Stand By You’ recorded at The Bay radio, which also featured Kate Ford, who plays Tracy Barlow in Coronation Street.
The song was in aid of the Ryan Stanford Appeal for Megan’s brother Ryan, who has Alper’s Syndrome – a terminal condition which only affects children.
