Kingsland Road.
Kingsland Road.

As you know Morecambe Carnival is back for the first time in donkey’s years and I can’t wait.

Stick May 4 in your diary. After the procession down the prom you need to head over to The Bay stage for an afternoon of live entertainment. There will be something for everyone and lots of pop music to keep you dancing well into the evening.

I’ll run you through some of the highlights.

Jai MacDowel: Jai won the fifth series of Britain’s Got Talent. In the final Jai brought the house down with his rendition of ‘To Where You Are’ by Josh Groban.

Kevin Simm: Kevin has spent the last decade in one of the biggest pop groups of the naughties, Liberty X. They enjoyed seven Top 10 singles -their biggest hit, “Just a Little”, reached Number 1 in 2002.

Kirk Norcross: Essex boy Kirk will be known to many as the loveable ladies man from TOWIE. Kirk also appeared in series nine of Celebrity Big Brother. In 2014 Kirk released his debut single, a cover of the Bill Withers classic ‘Ain’t No Sunshine.’

Denise Pearson: While in Five Star, Denise had an unprecedented chart run of over 20 top thirty UK singles including ‘System Addict’, ‘The Slightest Touch’ and the anthem ‘Rain Or Shine.’

Paul Akister: Louis Walsh has a habit of creating outrage. Every year on The X factor he makes a ludicrous decision which creates a furore. Not taking Lancaster’s Paul Akister from Boot Camps into the live shows was one of those moments. Louis has since admitted he made a mistake and told a tabloid newspaper that he’d like Paul to audition again this year.

The Risk: The four piece boy-band released their first single ‘Missiles’ at the start of 2013 following a successful run in the X Factor finals 2011. The band consists of Charlie Healy, Andy Merry and Derry Mensah who all auditioned separately for the TV talent show , but were later put together as a group in true X Factor tradition.

Kitty Brucknell: Kitty Brucknell is the crazy one from 2011’s X Factor. Since appearing on the show, Kitty has been performing throughout the UK, and has an online fan base of over 120,000 followers.

Kingsland Road: Josh, Matt, Connor, Jay and Thompson are Kingsland Road. Famed for their big hair and slick moves, they made The X Factor finals in 2013.

We also have some of the best local acts performing on The Bay stage too.
