I’ve had a few requests for Pixie Lott’s new single ‘Nasty’ to be played on The Bay.
So I emailed her management asking if she would be free for a little natter on my show.
They gave me a number and I felt like a phone pest.
Every time I called she was busy doing some record signing or schools appearance.
It was usually Pixie’s mum who answered the phone who I’m now on first name terms with and seems lovely.
Pixie Lott is only 23, yet has three UK number one singles to her name. Her third album is due to be unleashed this spring and ahead of the release of her new single ‘Nasty’ Pixie finally found the time to chat.
It was worth the effort – she was friendly and bubbly.
Speaking of the new single Pixie told me, ”I can’t believe it’s finally out it feels like I’ve been away for ages so I’m just glad to be back.
“The song is like the album and has a much more soulful sound.”
Pixie Lott released her first album when she was just 19 years old and it was an instant smash hit, producing five top ten hits.
Her second album also sold by the bucket-load.
I asked her if this just piled on the pressure when making the third album.
“I think I’m just more excited as its been a while since my last one.
“I feel this album is the most me and will show my personality the most and the style in which I love singing so I’m very excited to release this album.
“I just hope people like it.”Pixie has been dead busy between albums – dead being the word.
She has been trying her hand at a bit of acting in the classic crime drama Inspector George Gently.
In the show Pixie played a holiday camp rep who gets murdered and is found washed up on a beach.
I suppose playing dead is not the most challenging of acting roles.
“It was great fun,” she told me.
“Apart from the dead part. I was freezing cold on a beach in winter and covered in cold water.
“But I enjoyed working with some great actors and it was really nice to try something different away from the music.”
After our chat I noticed Pixie’s new single was another top ten smash – there is no stopping this girl.
