Bands from the Merseybeat era of Liverpool will join Morecambe’s premier rock ‘n’ rollers on a wild weekend.
The Paul Hayes Collection has organised and will perform at ‘Rock Back the Clock Wild Weekend’ – two days featuring 10 live acts on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17 at the Platform.
A groups who had three chart hits in 1964, The Mojos, will be on the bill.
Also appearing will be The Undertakers, The Monkeymen, Just Us, The Topspots, Ian and The Rebels, The Smokey Joe Band, Joe Marcel and The Sweet Inspirations and The Red Rosettes.
Some of these bands go back to The Cavern era of the early 1960s when Beatlemania became the most powerful force in rock and pop music.
The Paul Hayes Collection is fronted by Paul Hayes, from Morecambe, best known as a television antiques expert.
The other members are Steve ‘Golly’ Goulding, a musician for 52 years and like Paul, an antiques dealer, plus bass guitarist Garry Pugh and drummer Rod Cairns who have also played professionally for more than 50 years.
The band plays hclassic rock ‘n’ roll hits from the 1950s and 1960s, fronted by Paul and his trademark energetic style.
The Collection headlined our Sunshine Awards night at the Midland Hotel in May, and have also performed this year alongside the legendary Herman’s Hermits at the Trimpell Club.
There will be a hot pot supper each evening.
