JIM Bowen is recovering from his recent stroke but will not be fit enough to appear as scheduled at The Grand Theatre in May.
The comedian, who lives at Melling near Lancaster, was originally set to perform as part of The Comedians reunion night at the city venue on May 21.
But promoters said that although the Bullseye star is set to fully recover, he needs to focus on getting better and so he will miss the A Night of Laughter:One Night Only event.
“Jim is a workaholic but sometimes he needs to be kind to himself and look after number one before thinking of going out and making people laugh,” explained his promoter.
“Jim is disappointed that he has to miss the show, but in his absence lead singer of The Fortunes Shel Mcrae and also Ian Sludge Lees, one of Jim’s favourite comedians, will be joining other Comedians stars Mick Miller and Stan Boardman for the performance.”
Bowen, 73, and his wife have requested two seats in the audience for the evening.
Promoters promised comedy fans will be in for a great night, but said full refunds will be offered to those who bought tickets specifically to see Jim Bowen.
