Burn baby burn! Morecambe Community High School pupils put on their flares and afros to deliver a supercharged musical tribute to the 1970s.
‘Disco Inferno’ played to three nights of sell-out crowds at the school as audiences clapped and cheered along to music from the decade of punk, glam rock and disco.
A love story of Jack (Shay Kennedy) and Jane (Amy Lawton) formed the backdrop to the musical as Jack followed his dream of becoming a heart-throb pop star but then learned, almost too late, what was really important in life.
Other cast members included Tom (Jack McIlwraith), Maggie (Ellie Cozens), Heathcliffe (Josh Watson), Kathy (Molly Wilson), Terry (Daniel Zanelli), Duke (Ethan Berry), Lady Marmalade (Natasha Walker), Nicky Diablo (Talia Riding) and Lily the Barman (Josh Hirstwood). They were backed by an enthusiastic chorus and an able support crew of teachers and sixth formers.
John McNaughton, head teacher, said: “It is not often I have the fashion crimes of my youth paraded before me but the whole school production of ‘Disco Inferno’ captured the decade with forensic zeal.
“I could not have been more proud of students and staff.”
