Morecambe prepares for West End festival

This years marks a landmark event celebrating community spirit in the West End of Morecambe.

The West End Festival celebrates its 21st year this June as it returns to Regent Park in Morecambe.

The free community festival showcases the best of the local community and organisers say it is a great afternoon for all ages on Saturday June 25 from 12pm-4pm.

Organised by West End-based community music charity More Music, the festival first began in 1995 and this year there will be three live music stages featuring diverse styles of music from local musicians and bands.

The Melodrome Stage will feature Retrospective from Ludus, Youth Orbit, the Guests, Alice Ashcroft, The Black Eyed Suzies and more. The Folk Corner will have performances from Avant Deux, MM Folk Group and the Long Walk Chinese Orchestra plus maypole workshops. The Melting Pot Open Mic Stage will give anyone the chance to share their musical talents.

There will be information about iMap, an ambitious project to link artists to the West End community and map the different ways of connecting.

In addition, there will be arts and crafts workshops, stalls from local charities and community groups, face painting and more.
