Carnforth singer joins protest song

Carnforth singer Ashleigh Wodd, taken at Gas Music to feature on the release of Everybody's Got To Learn.

Gas Music, a new up and coming record label based in Media City in Manchester, has taken Ashleigh under its wing.

The 23-year-old singer from Crag Bank has also appeared on a new protest song which calls for people to become better in society and to act with integrity.

The Modern Family Unit (MFU), a music company run by Gary Hilton and Steve Southern, asked Ashleigh to appear on the song ‘Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometime.’

The aim is to protest against people living on the streets, childish squabbles in Parliament and continual war in the 21st century.

Producers described Ashleigh’s voice like angelic glass which runs in stark contrast to the deep rounded tones of Badly Drawn Boy, Gary Hilton and Martin Finnigan.

Ashleigh said: “I’m really excited to be part of this project.

“The beautiful song has been skilfully re-crafted by MFU to deliver a compelling statement about the uncaring world that present society has created.

“We all need to think about the need for compassion, respect, love, qualities we all possess but often fail to use. It’s not clever or cool to be thoughtless and cruel.”

The single will be released on June 3.
