MORECAMBE boss Sammy McIlroy has praised Garry Hunter's stunning winner at Grimsby on Tuesday.
The midfielder volleyed in from a Michael Twiss corner to crown a comeback from 2-0 down as the Shrimps moved up to 11th.

He said: "You simply won't see a better goal than that.

"There was great skill in Michael Twiss picking him out in the first place and then the volley was out of this world.

"Garry said he knew it was going in the minute he hit it and it really was a memorable goal."

McIlroy added: "The fans that travelled to Grimsby in midweek saw just how much spirit this side has. We were 2-0 down and not playing particularly well but we never gave up.

"We scored in the last minute for the second time in a week to get something from the game and I am delighted with everything the lads are doing.

"The win sets up Saturday as a real cracker against a really good Wycombe side who will provide us with another tough test.

"We got a great point there on the opening day of the season and I knew on that day that they would be up there come the end of the season."
