MORECAMBE striker Jon Newby scored a superb hat-trick as Morecambe piled on the agony for struggling Rotherham.
>>>Watch the slideshow here...The former Liverpool front man scored all three of his goals in a wonderful first half performance after Matty Blinkhorn had headed Morecambe into the lead from Garry Thompson's cross in the seventh minute.
Newby put Morecambe 3-0 ahead with superb goals on eight and 18 minutes before Mark Hudson brought the Millers back into the game on 36 minutes with a smart strike from the edge of the area which beat the flat-footed Morecambe keeper Scott Davies.
But any hopes of a comeback were dashed as Newby headed past Andy Warrington three minutes from the break.
Blinkhorn came close to adding to Rotherham's woes with a shot against the post and Warrington made fine saves from Wayne Curtis and Thompson to keep Morecambe at bay in the second period before the visiting keeper was beaten for a fifth time by Craig Stanley on 72 minutes.
