Young sports stars on rise

YOUNG sporting hopefuls from across Lancashire have been awarded cash boost to help them towards their goals. 

Lorrie Doze from Morecambe, Jacquelyn Shaw from Lancaster and Beau Smith from Carnforth were three of the 14 athletes to be awarded £500 in the latest round of the Lancashire Rising Star Fund at County Hall in Preston last Wednesday.

 

Lorrie, 14, is a member of Blackburn Rovers FC and is a member of the England U15s Ladies Team.

She has represented the country against the Republic of Ireland and Holland as well as being select for an England further training camp in April and August and has just been selected for England U15s squad to go to another training camp which includes playing an international friendly against Norway.

Lorrie will continue to work on her fitness and performance which will hopefully result in her to continue being selected to represent England.

Beau, 17, is a member of City of Lancaster Triathlon has been unbeaten in his age group for the region for four years.

He races against senior athletes and trains for up to 16 hours a week alongside studying for his A-levels at Lancaster Royal Grammar School.
