GREAT Britain’s men, featuring three Lancaster Water Polo club players, opened their London 2012 campaign with a 13-4 defeat to Romania at the Water Polo Arena on Sunday night.

Glen Robinson, Ciaran James and Alex Parsonage played as captain Craig Figes, Rob Parker (two goals) and Jack Waller scored for Team GB in their first Group B fixture.

The men’s team continue their campaign against Serbia on Tuesday.

The women, featuring former Heysham High School pupil Beckie Kershaw and fellow local girl Alex Rutlidge, start their campaign on Monday night at 6.20pm against Russia.
