Tyson Fury believes long-time friend Isaac Lowe can go all the way to the top of the boxing world.

The Morecambe-based heavyweight contender will be ringside when the Westgate Warrior takes on Lee Glover at the King George’s Hall in Blackburn for the English featherweight title on April 4.

Fury, who has known Lowe since they were both youngsters, has been keeping his good mate company during his hill runs in recent weeks.

The 26-year-old said: “I think he can go all the way.

“You look at Josh Warrington and Jamie McDonnell, they’re all around the same sort of weight and Isaac’s been sparring with them and has done well with these guys.

“There was Scott Quigg too. They’re a long way above him at the moment but he’s done alright.

“He’s only had nine fights and can do well as long as he sticks to his boxing and doesn’t get side-tracked with alcohol, drugs and women.

“He can go a long way. He’ll be the first home-grown champion in Morecambe.”

Fury himself continues to wait for news on a tilt at the world title.

The current British and European champion is mandatory for a shot at Wladimir Klitschko’s WBO title with the Ukrainian great first facing unbeaten American Bryant Jennings in New York on April 25.

Fury intends to make the trip and hopes to put pressure on a man he believes doesn’t want to fight him.

He said: “I’m still in limbo land.

“He’s got a fight on April 25th and I’m going to New York to cause a scene and stir it up a little bit.

“I’m his mandatory. He has to fight me or vacate the WBO heavyweight championship of the world.

“But I don’t think Wladimir’s got what it takes to step up and fight a young, hungry, fighter like me.”

WBC champion Deontay Wilder is another option for Fury with a clash between the two big punchers and big talkers the dream of many fight fans.

Fury said: “If Klitschko doesn’t want to fight I’ll fight Deontay Wilder.

“I’ll get a title shot by the end of the year.

“I think the me and Deontay Wilder fight would be an epic build-up and an epic fight.

“There’d be a big finish too. One of us is going down for sure.”
