Tyson Fury has been asked to attend an interview with the British Boxing Board of Control in the new year following his recent comments in the media.

Fury has come under increasing scrutiny for comments he has made since he upset long-time world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in Germany on November 28.

The BBBC met to discuss the matter on Wednesday before informing Fury last night, and again on Thursday morning, that he is to front the board.

“Mr Fury has been called for an interview in the new year,” BBBC general secretary Robert Smith told Press Association Sport.

While no date has yet been made for the meeting, Fury is set to be asked to explain recent remarks about homosexuality and women in the media which have caused controversy and led to calls for the boxer to be removed from the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award shortlist.
