Three Skerton Amateur Boxing Club boxers will fight for North West titles this weekend.

Steven Douglas, Bob Rowntree and Marcin Lewicki won through their semi-finals last Saturday meaning they will by vying for senior championships in Manchester on Saturday.

First up, undefeated 60kg fighter Douglas won a unanimous decision against Mike Chaichin from Sharpstyle Boxing club in Blackpool.

Next up was Rowntree at 64kg, and he too was a unanimous winner against the tough Junaid Ahmed from Northside ABC in Manchester.

The Morecambe-based club did suffer one defeat on the night, Sean Coxon losing a split decision at 69kg to Joe Eko from Boarshaw boxing Club.

‘Lights out’ Lewicki however ensured the night ended on a high for Skerton as he won a unanimous decision against Joe Birkett from Kirkham Boxing Club.

Saturday night capped a fine weekend for the club as three boxers has earlier enjoyed success in Kirkham on Friday night.

First up was John Dugdale in his first competitive bout which saw him win all three rounds clearly for a unanimous points win.

Then Reece Mills stepped through the ropes and showed his class with a 30-second stoppage of his opponent from Blackpool.

Mathew Doey completed the hat-trick as he defended his North West 63kg belt with another unanimous decision, this time against a fighter from the Roche Gym in Burnley.
