Scarlet takes fifth spot at European Championships in Italy

Sixteen-year-old Scarlet Dale, representing Great Britain, finished an outstanding fifth in Acro on Saturday and was also part of the gold-medal winning junior GB team.

Heidi Murray representing Ireland finished 37th.

The rest of the squad were closer to home competing in the Mid Lancs Track and Field league match at Salt Ayre, Lancaster.

In the U17s competition Henry Connolly recorded a personal best in the 100m while Will Howard posted a good time of 2:26.2 in the 800m.

Newcomer Keean Arnold posted a grade 4 performance in the long jump with James Stanley’s 200m and 400m times also good enough for grade 3 and 4 in the same age group.

Elsewhere, Will Pyle impressed in his first 3,000m and Georgie Brown Swarbrich improved his 100m time to 14.1 seconds.

Grace Wakeman had a successful day in the U17 women’s sprints recording a new personal best time in the 100m.

In the U15 girls’ events there were new best times in the 100m for for Temi Mustapha, grade 4, and Candice Cravern.

Sadie Bentley did well in the 200m and the high jump while Candice jumped a new best height. Imogen Graham tackled the 800m.

In the field Amy Bennett improved her javelin throw while Temi was also back in action setting a personal best in the shot.

U13 Elysha Collins recorded grade 4 performances in both the 100m and 200m and also jumped a PB in the high jump.

Also competing Libby Elliot produced new bests in the 100m and long jump with Niamh Fisher in the same events.

There was a new best 100m time for Alanna Smith while in the 800m there were personal bests for Macy Evans and Melissa Wilson.

Melissa also produced a new best distance in the long jump.

Emily Sim continues to show real talent in the javelin with a grade 4 throw of and also produced personal bests in the long jump and shot.
