Two of Skerton Amateur Boxing Club’s fighters were victorious last week.
First in action was 10-year-old Danny Robb, boxing in only his second outing on a packed card in Leigh.
In the first round Danny took his time to evaluate what his opponent had to offer, at the bell it had been a close affair and quite an even round.
The second round saw Danny step up the pace and take the fight to his opponent, while the third started at a good pace with both boxers landing good combinations throughout the round.
The judges collated their scores and it was announced as a split decision, with Danny getting his hand raised as the winner.
Next to box was Jamie “The Lancaster Bomber” Proctor, boxing in his first competitive amateur bout.
From the first round Jamie came out landing clean sharp jabs straight to the head of his opponent and following these with hard backhands.
In the second round Jamie again landed at will with clean, hard fast shots, throwing combinations that his opponent struggled to counter.
The start of the third saw Jamie step up the pace and landed a cracking body shot that shook him to his boots, the round ended at a frenetic pace with the local Derby boxer wanting to at least put up a fight.
At the end of the fight Jamie was declared winner by unanimous decision.
