Otters youngsters star in the pool

Eight swimmers from Carnforth Otters competed in the Ulverston Open Age Group Meet held in Kendal.

Awards were issued for the top six places in each event and between them the Otters picked an impressive 15 awards in their first competition of the season.

In the combined age group for 12 and 13 year olds, Charlotte Dent, 13, was awarded fourth place in the 100m breaststroke and Aimee Banks, 12, awarded fourth in 100m the freestyle, fifth in the 100m backstroke and sixth in the 100m butterfly.

Eleven-year-old Lydia Shenton received awards for finishing sixth in both the 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle.

Competing in the 10-year-old events were Connor Sisson, Sarah Bellamy and Megan Haines.

Connor came third in the 50m freestyle, fourth in the 100m individual medley and fifth in the 50m butterfly.

Sarah achieved awards for all her three races - fourth in the 50m freestyle, fourth in the 50m butterfly and fifth in the individual medley.
Madison Craven and Alice Sands competed in the nine-year-old events with Alice fourth in the 50m breaststroke, fifth in the 50m backstroke and sixth in the 50m freestyle.
