European Senior Tour professional Gary Wolstenholme MBE has capped off an incredible season with a win in the Standard Bank Mauritius Open at the five star Le Touessrock Golf resort.

Bringing together stars from the European Tour, the Sunshine Tour, the European Senior Tour and the Challenge Tour, the event is one of the biggest and most prestigious golf events in Mauritius.

After impressive rounds of 72 and 71, Gary finished on a -1 total of 143, one shot clear of European Tour player Mark Haastrup.

Gary’s impressive final round also made him the first professional to shoot under par on the course.

The field included European Tour winners Miles Tunnicliff, Gary Emerson and 2012 Irish Open winner Jamie Donaldson.

The win caps an impressive year for Gary, which has also seen him pick up two European Senior Tour victories in the Mallorca Open Senior and the Benahavis Senior Masters.

He finished the season at seventh in the European Senior Tour Order of Merit.

After an extraordinarily successful amateur career in which he won the Amateur Championship twice and played in six Walker Cup sides, famously beating Tiger Woods in 1995, Gary has taken the world of Senior Professional golf by storm and was named the European Senior Tour Rookie of the Year in 2011.
