Top four finish for Brown as runners turn out in force for annual 10k race

Lancaster and Morecambe AC held its annual Lancaster 10k last Wednesday evening, with 150 runners taking part in the race and enjoying the sunny weather.

Winner of the race was Ian Livesey of Barlick Fell Runners, finishing in 32m.49. First back for the local club was David Brown, cruising round to an excellent 33m.55 to finish fourth.

David was well backed up William Onek just one place behind in a super 34m.23 and Mark Leadbetter in ninth with a good run of 36m.37.

Lancaster’s Laura Gardner had a fantastic run, finishing second woman in a time of 43m.43. In next for the club’s ladies was Rachel Newbury with a great effort of 49m.27 and Carole Wilkinson running well in 53m.25.

Super vet Evelyn Elkington recently moved up an age group but shows no sign of slowing down, taking first veteran 80 place with a strong run of 1h.05.59.

Other finishers: Jon Sear 40m.49, Paul Mackie 43m.47, Brendon Cronin 55m.48, Katherine Lewis 55m.58, Michelle Peters 58m.37, Sandra Ashton 59m.58 and Lisa Preston 1h.00.19.
