On Saturday Morecambe’s seconds had picked up a winning draw against Leyland in a game that went right down to the wire.

Batting first, 37 from Lewis Smith and 28 from Steven Fisher helped the hosts post 154 for 7.

In reply the visitors came within a whisker of victory, finishing on 153 for 8 as they failed to get the three needed for victory off the final ball.

Smith completed a good day all round by taking 3 for 20 with the ball.

Lancaster’s 2nd XI went down to a 144-run defeat at Chorley.

The Lune Road men were bowled out for just 75 after Chorley had made 219 for 5 batting first.
