Seven in row for brilliant Under 15s

Heysham Atoms U15s travelled to Leigh Miners Rangers for a Lancashire Cup quarter final looking to build on their impressive away win at Saddleworth Rangers last week, which put them third in NWC League One, but knowing this would be a very tough encounter against the third placed side in the NWC Premier Division.

The Atoms responded to the challenge and came away with a 24-10 win, their seventh successive win and an excellent performance against very good opponents.

After an even start to the game with both defences prevailing the Atoms took the lead with a try by Henry Connolly but Leigh showed their quality with two tries and a conversion to take the lead 10-4.

However, the Atoms are made of strong stuff and stormed back with two more tries from Callum Brodie and Noah Lee and a conversion by Henry Higginson to stun their hosts and lead 14-10 at half time.

The second half was notable for another superb defensive display by the Atoms, denying Leigh any points during the half.

However, the Atoms wouldn’t be denied and attacked with strength and pace to score two more tries from Harry Vause and Henry Higginson who converted his own try to make the final score 24-10, the semi final now awaits.
