Morecambe seniors win back shield
Enjoying home advantage, the Morecambe seniors won back the much-coveted Triangular Shield which they have now held for three of the last four years.
Six golfers from each club were involved in an absorbing tussle with little separating them until the final game when Morecambe ‘rookie’ John Oliver came home in a stunning net 63, a score that was good enough to give his club a six-point victory over holders Lancaster with Heysham third.

The triangular match was an important date in the local golfing calendar and he was so pleased with the comradeship and friendship shown by all involved.
Mr Halpin was also full of praise for the golfers. He had been present throughout day and was mightily impressed by the way all the players had conducted themselves.
“It was a great event and one which we are extremely proud to have won,” he added.
