Chisnall loses in Benidorm

MORECAMBE-based darts ace Dave Chisnall reached the quarter-final of his second event of 2012.

Chizzy Rascal lost 6-3 to the eventual winner Michael Smith in the Players Championship in Benidorm on Sunday.

His run to the last eight in Spain included victories over Dean Winstanley, Peter “One Dart” Manley and Richie Burnett.

Chisnall picked up winnings of £1,000 and is looking to build on his excellent year in 2011 that saw him knock darts’ greatest ever player Phil “The Power” Taylor out of the PDC World Championships in December.

In the opening event in Benidorm the day before, Chisnall lost 6-4 to Shaun Griffiths in the opening round.
