Calling all sports fans!

This is your chance to nominate a sporting hero, or sporting unsung hero, to be shortlisted for our annual Sunshine Sports Award.

Who do you think deserves recognition for their achievement, performance or effort in Morecambe sport? This person or group could be a sportsman or woman, a successful team, a manager, coach, or trainer, or a youngster who shows terrific promise in his or her chosen sporting field.

We’re looking for someone who has either put Morecambe on the map with their sporting success, or someone who has performed above and beyond the call of duty in promoting their chosen sport in the local area.

In previous years winners of the Sunshine Sports Award have included TT motorbike racing legend John McGuinness and last year’s winner, youth football coach Scott Thornton.

You can nominate in writing to Morecambe Sunshine Awards, Editorial, The Visitor, 41 Northgate, White Lund Industrial Estate, Morecambe, Lancs, LA3 3PA, by email to greg.lambert@jpress.co.uk, by tweeting @The_Visitor using the hashtag #sunshineawards, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/thevisitornewspaper.

The closing date for nominations is this Friday, March 14. We will then reveal the top three in the Sports category, then open the voting to the public to decide the winner.
